What Is CityDesk?

CityDesk is a Windows-based application for creating and maintaining web sites. It is published by Fog Creek Software.

CityDesk is designed to separate form from content. You write your site's content in Articles, through an interface that is as easy to use as a word processor, and you define your site's form (layout) in Templates using HTML.

The benefit of this is that you can change the layout of your whole web site at any time just by modifying your templates and republishing. You don't need to edit any of the articles unless you want to fix a spelling error or change the wording of something. Gone are the days of having to manually modify every page in your site just to change the background colour. Gone too are the days of wrecking the layout of a page when you're just trying to fix a spelling mistake!

CityDesk runs on your PC. You can create, modify and delete articles and templates while you're offline, and you only need to log onto the Internet when you're ready to publish your site. It doesn't require any special software on your server, so you won't need anybody's help to get your web site up and running.

The easiest way to see what CityDesk does is to watch the CityDesk Demo Video (2 Mb).
